Tokyo: The Long Way -- Part III

Part III: Park Hyatt Tokyo

After almost 24 hours in airports and on planes, we landed in Tokyo.  We took the Airport Limo Bus service to the hotel.

The bus was very easy.  It was comfortable and clean and everyone spoke English.  We pulled up near the hotel and began walking up to the entrance.  There were a bunch of employees at the entrance, and when they saw us walking up they immediately ran over and took our bags.

We were escorted to the elevators to take us to the lobby which is on the 41st floor.  We sat down at a desk and a very nice man checked us in and told us about the hotel.  Meanwhile, our bags were taken up to our room.

We were then taken to our room, which was a suite with amazing views of Tokyo.

The shampoo at the Park Hyatt was really nice.  It smelled good and had orange peels and weird stuff in it.  The only downside was that every time I was outside, I was constantly being attacked by bugs.

Every time we'd leave the room and come back, the room would be made and all my stuff would be neatly organized.  They even folded my underwear, which is kind of nasty when you think about it.

Also, whenever we left a drink or a glass out, they would cover it with a napkin -- not sure why.

As a Diamond member, I got free room service breakfast each morning.  It was probably one of the best breakfasts I've ever had.

One night we decided try out the pool.  It's a pretty cool pool since it's on one of the top floors of the building.  They give you robes, goggles, and swim caps.  I didn't really want to wear a swim cap so I just left it on the table.  One of the pool attendants then ran over with a terrified look on her face and said I couldn't go in the pool without a swim cap.  Not sure why, but whatever.

After swimming, we asked where the hot tubs were and they escorted us to an elevator to take us to the spa.  Once in the spa, someone took us on a 15 minute tour of the spa, showing us all the different rooms and how to use the lockers, and then we finally got to the hot tub.  The hot tub looked really cool, but he said we had to get completely naked to get in it.  At that point, we knew we weren't going to go in the hot tub, but the tour continued.  He kept showing us more rooms and explaining more stuff to us.  Eventually, the tour ended and he walked away, and we just snuck out.

Overall, we had a great stay.  I can really see why this is one of the best hotels in the world.  The service is amazing.  Every time we walked by, the staff would greet us and bow.  Words don't do it justice.  If you haven't, you definitely need to visit this hotel.

Stay tuned for Part IV - Exploring Tokyo.

  1. Folded underwear...for real??? And I would say the paper on top of glasses would be to keep out insects, but I'm not sure how many flies make it up to the 40th floor.
