Part IX: Montreal Marriott Airport

After clearing customs, I started walking over to the Marriott Montreal Airport.  It was a pretty long walk to the lobby of the hotel.  Checking in was really easy.  The friendly front desk agent recognized my Platinum status and offered me a welcome amenity. I chose some Haagen Dazs ice cream and a bottle of water.

The room was very nice.  Comfortable bed, nice shower, and a nice view of the airport.  My only complaint would be the little bottles of shampoo/conditioner/etc. were already open and half used.  I didn't really care enough to call the front desk about it, but it's still kind of gross.

A Gideon bible and a French Mormon bible -- how nice of them?

Concierge lounge

Evening lounge food

After a restful night's sleep, I woke up really early and headed over to concierge lounge for breakfast. They had a really good spread.  After a filling breakfast, I decided to go out into the city.  I only had a few hours until my flight so I didn't get to see that much, but I plan to go back to Montreal soon.  Another thing to note is that Montreal's public transit system is really easy.  They have a bus that runs very frequently from the airport to downtown Montreal.  Also, you can buy a card for $8 that will give you unlimited access on all of the city buses and metro for 24 hours.

Apparently Mubarak fled Egypt and opened a deli in Montreal

Overall, it was a nice hotel stay, and it was nice to spend some time in Montreal.  I packed up my stuff and made my way to airport security.  I had to wait in a fairly long customs line, and after that I headed to the lounge. I really like Air Canada lounges. They usually look nice and have good food options.

Of course you have to drink Canada Dry in Canada (is it even Canadian?)

Can't go wrong with Clamato

I spent a little too much time in the lounge.  When I arrived at the gate for my flight to Newark, even though I was there 15 minutes before departure, the gate agent said the doors were closed and I couldn't board.  He rebooked me on the next flight out to Chicago.  I was happy because I was being rebooked into Y class and on more convenient flights.  Before I knew it, I was in Las Vegas and on my way to the Encore Wynn. Stay tuned for that post.
